This section offers a number of tutorial routes.
There are Step by Step tutorials available for download
which have been prepared for my courses in the past.
These run from absolutely basic techniques, through to very detailed pieces.
Further sessions will be added from my collection
as and when they are replaced by newer ones on the courses.
Also, from time to time, we may run a group tutorial via the site.
The first of these was run in the winter of 2009/10
and is included within the site as the ‘Allerford Packhorse Bridge Exercise’.
Others may follow. Details of how this works are given below.
Then there are my own courses at Knuston Hall, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
These are residential, are open to non residents who are able to travel daily,
and are run twice a year in Spring and Autumn
Finally
There are courses and tutorials run by other Coloured Pencil Artists I know of.
and tutorials in some artists web sites linked to the Gallery section
Some details are listed below -

Peter Weatherill Courses at Knuston Hall
Update of plans for Courses in 2011 and 2012
I have my own courses twice a year at Knuston Hall, near Wellingborough where I cover one or more days for beginners and usually a weekend for landscape artists in CP. The College is residential but has limited single bedroom accommodation so early booking is recommended.
Non residents who can travel easily to South Northants are welcome.
Contact the college through www.knustonhall.org

Friday March 16th 2012 Intermediate Coloured Pencils -
Topic -
-
The previous Intermediate exercises will also be available for new students
This session is designed for students who have attended previous CP courses or who are familiar with the techniques for Coloured Pencil. There is not time on this day to cater for beginners, though you are welcome to join us if you have been to a previous basics day. The day is aimed at some tuition, some discussion and an opportunity to try some of the techniques
..................................................................................................................................
Friday evening March 16th through to Sunday Afternoon March 18th Landscapes in Coloured Pencil Weekend
the ‘Usual’ weekend course which is not purely Landscape but can include any subject you care to bring along to work on.
We have an introductory session on the Friday evening which helps those resident for the weekend to get organised so that they can make the best use of the first day on Saturday.
Saturday is a full day -
There will be support for those who are new to Coloured Pencil and all materials are available to borrow if needed.
Although the weekend is not designed specially for beginners, we do usually have one or two students needing instruction on the basics, so feel free to come along even if you are new to the medium and are able enjoy a weekend with us.
BE WARNED THOUGH, the amount of time I can give for the elements of CP is limited, and the ‘Thursday’ basics day is the best session to attend if you can, should you be totally new to the medium.
For the students attending the weekend, I have a wide range of references for you to try, as well as step by step exercises from the back catalogue which include some of the tutorials shown on the site here . I have a selection of alternative surfaces and a wide range of different CP brands.
This is a good opportunity to have a go at something new and also have the chance to discuss techniques with other Coloured Pencil students. We take a very flexible approach on the weekend programme and tailor it to the needs of those attending each course.
........................................................................................................................................
The Courses for September 2012 are similar to the above
Thursday September 6th 2012 Day course -
Friday September 7th 2012
Day course -
Friday September 7th ( evening ) through to Sunday (afternoon) 9th September 2012
-
All four days will work together for someone looking for a four day break
.....................................................................................................................................................................
As always, it is best to book early for residential accommodation at Knuston Hall if a single room is required, as single rooms are booked up quickly by visitors on the range of courses Knuston run..
Contact the Office at 01933 312104 for details.
We get a high level of repeat bookings on these courses but will always welcome new faces, and from comments received in 2009, 2010, and students who came for the first time this year, many will be seen again in 2012.
We look forward to you joining us
